Merge PDF & Split PDF
Combine several PDFs into one — choosing which pages of each — or split a PDF into ranges, every few pages or single pages. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable.
How it works
Merging
- Each PDF is opened on your device with pdf-lib; the first page is drawn with PDF.js as a preview.
- Your page ranges are checked as you type, with a message saying exactly what's wrong (for example “Page 12 doesn't exist — this PDF has 10 pages”).
- When you press Merge, the chosen pages are copied — not redrawn — into a new PDF in the order shown, and it downloads.
Worked example: splitting a 10-page PDF
- Ranges 1-3, 4-6, 7- → three files: 1-3 · 4-6 · 7-10
- Every 4 pages → 1-4 · 5-8 · 9-10 (the last file holds what's left)
- Every page → ten one-page PDFs named name-page-1.pdf … name-page-10.pdf, in one ZIP.

Commas, semicolons or spaces separate parts; en dashes work too. In Split → Ranges, each comma-separated part becomes its own file.
Limitations, plainly
- Encrypted PDFs (password to open, or owner-password restrictions that encrypt the file) can't be merged or split here.
- Forms and annotations: comments, highlights and links on a page are copied with it. Form fields keep their look but may stop being fillable, because the form's document-level data isn't merged.
- Bookmarks, attachments and signatures aren't carried over; any digital signature becomes invalid.
- Damaged files that can't be parsed are rejected with a message rather than producing a broken PDF.
- Memory: all files are held in your browser tab while you work. Very large inputs may be slow or run out of memory, especially on phones.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge PDF files into one?+
On the Merge tab, add your PDFs, put them in order by dragging or with the up and down arrows, and press Merge. The files are joined top to bottom into one PDF that downloads straight away. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I merge only some pages of each PDF?+
Yes. Each file has a Pages box. Leave it as “all”, or type ranges such as 1-3, 5 or 8- (page 8 to the end). Pages are added in the order you type them, so “10, 1-3” puts page 10 first.
How do I split a PDF into separate files?+
On the Split tab, open the PDF and choose Ranges (for example 1-3, 4-6, 7- makes three files), Every N pages, or Every page. Several files download together as a ZIP; you can also download each one separately.
Does merging keep the text selectable?+
Yes. Pages are copied into the new file as they are, so text stays text, vector drawings stay sharp and the file isn't re-compressed. Links drawn on a page are copied with it.
What doesn't carry over when merging?+
Bookmarks (the outline), document-level JavaScript and attachments aren't copied, and form fields may show their current values but stop being fillable. A digital signature is never valid in the new file, because the document has changed.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?+
No. Encrypted PDFs can't be read here — you'll see a clear message naming the file. Remove the password in a PDF app you trust, then add the file again.
Is there a size limit?+
Each file can be up to 200 MB and you can add up to 50 files. Everything happens in your browser's memory, so very large merges (hundreds of MB in total) can be slow or fail on phones and older computers.
